Dr. Amit Prakash Ilamkar is Gondia's only dedicated urosurgeon and andrologist — a super-specialist who chose to return to his region rather than stay in Mumbai, because he believed that world-class urological care belongs here, not only in the metro.
His journey in medicine spans three of Maharashtra's most respected institutions. He completed his MBBS at Government Medical College, Nagpur. His MS in General Surgery at LTMMC & Sion Hospital, Mumbai. And his super-specialty in urosurgery at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai — where he subsequently continued as a Clinical Associate.
In ten years of practice, Dr. Amit has performed more than 5,000 urological procedures — including over 1,000 advanced laser surgeries, 200+ urological cancer operations, 100+ andrology procedures, and 50+ kidney transplants. He currently manages 40 to 60 procedures every month at Urocare Hospital.
He is author of two medical textbooks used by doctors in training across India, publishes peer-reviewed research, presents at national conferences, and teaches at GMC Gondia — a urologist who writes the books that train the next generation, and then comes to Gondia to practice what he teaches.
